SON JE HYEONG

Creation is my space for expression-a process through which I discover myself and embed my inner emotions and experiences into my work. Through artworks with my own unique style, I experience the joy of expressing who I am and experiment with new artistic forms. I often give birth to new works by combining various genres and media.

I painted on a circular canvas using gouache, focusing on detailed expressions of animals' fur and eyes. Although animal fur appears irregular at first glance, a closer look reveals an underlying order in its growth. The bristles of the brush, which spread out irregularly, were well suited for this kind of expression. The iris of the eye also has delicate textures, which could only be expressed using a brush with protruding, uneven bristles.

The theme of the work is 'Animals'.

Animals are a subject through which I can communicate and empathize with the world, and they are the medium that best expresses who I am.

The animals I create charge forward boldly toward their goals and remain steady and reliable even in harsh and difficult environments. They are 'friends of my heart,' animals that represent my desire to communicate with the world and move forward, step by step.

창작은 나의 표현 공간이며 나 자신을 찾고, 내면의 감정과 경험을 작품에 담는 과정이다. 나만의 독특한 스타일의 작품을 통해 나를 표현하는 즐거움을 경험하며 새로운 예술적 형식을 실험한다. 다양한 장르와 매체를 결합하여 새로운 작품을 탄생시키곤 한다.

 원형 캔버스 위에 과슈로 그리면서 동물의 털과 눈을 자세히 표현하려 했다. 동물의 털은 불규칙적으로 나있어 보이지만 자세히 보면 규칙적으로 자란다. 붓에 있는 붓 털들이 불규칙적으로 늘어져 있어서 표현하기가 좋았다. 그리고 눈의 홍체에도 미세한 결이 있는데 오직 털이 삐죽한 붓으로 그려야 표현할 수 있었다.

작품의 주제는 '동물' 이다.

'동물'은 내가 세상과 함께 소통하고 공감할 수 있는 주제이며, 나를 가장 잘 표현할 수 있는 매체이기 때문이다.

나의 동물들은 목표를 향하여 저돌적으로 돌진하고, 힘들고 어려운 환경에서도 흔들리지 않는 굳건하고 믿음직한 동물들이다. 이제는 세상과 소통하며 한 걸음씩 전진하고자 하는 나의 마음을 대변해 주는 '내 마음의 친구'인 동물들이다.
