A letter from Jayden’s mother

For a while, he was deeply into cars. His world was full of cars. Cars came first over mom and dad. I couldn’t change my child’s interest, but after pouring all his love on things that are attractive and with four wheels, as if everything was exhausted, Hyung-ju’s attention shifted to heroes and Disney characters. And he started to give his love again as if he had found a new lover. Drawing Mickey Mouse and cartoon characters was strange and surprising. That's because his love for cars was so tenacious. Hyeong-ju's Disney characters are full of life with lively eyes as if they are alive in the animation. He doesn’t try too hard to draw each line so carefully on the paper, but rather draw as he pleases, and evetually, the character comes alive in the picture. In Hyeong-ju's Wonderland (not strange for Hyeong-ju), they have unintelligible conversations, flowers by the roadside talk, caterpillars smoke cigarettes, the road moves and makes me lose my way, and suddenly I'm small. It is not strange to become small or big. Pinocchio falls into the temptation of the moment and goes on a journey, but it happens because of his youthful innocence. And the reason Hyeong-ju's paintings are not typical and the way he looks at things is probably because they resemble these characters. Letting Hyung-ju be who he is and do what he wants is all I did. And I give my special thanks to the creative director, Gemma Han, who looked into Hyung-ju and made his first solo exhibition possible. I love you SYS PLANET, who saw Hyung-ju as an artist and his scribble like drawings as an artwork and brought them out to the world. Thank you for loving Hyung-ju, the Pinocchio, who lives in Wonderland.
